General information about ear complaints
Earache
If you have severe ear pain, do not hesitate to take paracetamol, Mexalen or ibuprofen (if you can tolerate them) and make a prompt appointment at the ENT practice. Please do not try to clean your ears with cotton swabs!
Blocked ears / feeling of pressure in the ear
It’s not always the earwax that’s to blame! A feeling of pressure in the ear cannot always be resolved by cleaning the ear canal. The reduced air permeability of the Eustachian tube is the cause in many cases! And this has several reasons that require careful endoscopic examinations.
Hearing problems / sudden hearing loss
Sudden hearing loss usually occurs suddenly and mostly on one side, often accompanied by a feeling of pressure in the ear and dizziness. It can be mild to severe and should be clarified relatively promptly, that is, within approx. 2-3 days (Fortunately, there are many spontaneous regressions of the symptoms, so it is worth waiting a bit and not going to the doctor within a few hours). The cause is often the poor blood supply to the inner ear, resulting from cervical spine pathology and neck muscle tension, but other causes are also possible (viral infections, ear infections, circulatory diseases, diabetes and much more), and unfortunately it is not always possible to determine the exact cause.
Hearing loss that has existed for years should be clarified and possibly treated with medication or surgery, if possible, or, if necessary, wearing a hearing aid is recommended.*

Ear noise / tinnitus
Ear noises can be different: ringing, buzzing, humming, whistling, clicking, cracking, rushing, hissing. The causes are also varied: they can be in the ear canal, middle ear or inner ear. A careful clarification is needed to find the right therapy.
Protruding ears (child or adult)
I would be happy to discuss with you the possibilities of how to beautify ears that are not entirely satisfactory in appearance. Surgical therapy can be performed with local anesthesia or under general anesthesia.
Ear piercing
I would be happy to pierce an ear stud for all age groups with a individually packaged sterile click system. Or several. Please pay attention to hygiene afterwards, and if you notice anything unusual, do not hesitate to contact me immediately!
